Peatsmoke
The format of Joan Rundall's
second collection is slightly more modest, the cover has a small label
pasted on the spine indicating the title, author and publisher, but
there is nothing on the front cover. The poems are similar in content
to those of Songs of the Grey Country, set in the Scottish
Lowlands, with perhaps a slightly larger focus on themes of separation
and loss. A small number of poems refer in passing to Catholic
practices, reflecting the poet's recent conversion. The opening poem is
addressed to her husband, Arthur Grigsby.
